School Bus Crash in Pillager, Minnesota Leaves Several Injured

Pillager, MN – A school bus carrying nearly three-dozen students was involved in a two-vehicle accident in northern Minnesota on Friday. The incident occurred when the bus attempted to make a left turn onto Cass County Rd. 1 in the small town of Pillager.

According to the state crash report, the school bus, driven by 73-year-old John Gordon Peterson of Cushing, MN, was traveling west on Hwy. 210 when it collided with an eastbound van hauling a trailer. The road conditions were reported to be slippery, with snow and ice covering the surface. Fortunately, alcohol was not a factor in the crash.

Emergency services, including the State Patrol, responded to the scene shortly before 8 a.m. Both drivers, Peterson and 45-year-old Jeremy Lee Trebesch of Pillager, were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

In addition to the drivers, three of the 34 students on board the bus also sustained minor injuries. However, none of them required hospitalization.
