police officials have now identified the victims and survivors of the devastating plane crash that occurred on a Florida highway yesterday. The tragic incident took place on Friday afternoon when a Bombardier Challenger 60 plane crashed onto the I-75 outside Naples, resulting in two fatalities and three survivors.
The Collier County Sheriff’s Office has released the names of the two individuals who lost their lives in the crash. The victims have been identified as Pilot Edward Daniel Murphy, 50, and second in command Ian Frederick Hofmann, 65. Murphy hailed from Oakland Park, Florida, while Hofmann was a resident of Pompano Beach, Florida.
The survivors of the crash include crew member Sydney Ann Bosmans, 23, and passengers Aaron Baker, 35, and Audra Green, 23. Bosmans, like the victims, was also from Florida, while Baker and Green were from Columbus, Ohio. All three survivors were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment of their injuries.
According to reports from Fox4 News, the pilots had reported a dual engine failure just moments before the crash. Disturbing audio from air traffic control reveals the panic and desperation in the pilot’s voice as he announced the emergency landing. Unfortunately, despite the efforts of air traffic control, the plane was unable to reach the runway and crashed just 4.7 miles short of Naples Airport.

Dramatic footage captured by witnesses shows the aftermath of the accident, with the plane engulfed in flames and wreckage scattered across the highway. One brave bystander can be seen rushing towards the smoke, attempting to assist any survivors despite the extreme danger.
The plane, identified as a Bombardier Challenger 600 with a capacity for up to 14 passengers, was traveling from Ohio State University Airport to Naples Airport. However, the university has clarified that the plane was not affiliated with them and had only used their facilities. The aircraft belonged to Hop-a-Jet, a private chartering company based in Florida.
Both southbound lanes of the highway were closed for four hours following the crash, and the closure is expected to continue for at least 24 hours. The Federal Aviation Authority has launched an investigation into the incident, with one investigator already on-site and more expected to join in the coming days. A preliminary report is anticipated within 30 days.
