Raigad Police Arrest Three, Including Woman, for Brutal Murder at Wadkhal Lodge

Navi Mumbai: In a horrifying turn of events, the Local Crime Branch (LCB) of Raigad has apprehended three individuals who were planning to escape to Uttar Pradesh after committing a gruesome murder at a lodge in Wadkhal, Raigad district. The incident took place on Tuesday night at approximately 9 pm at the Sawali lodge, where the trio brutally killed a man before fleeing the scene.

The victim has been identified as Dharmendra Kushwah, a 40-year-old man from Madhya Pradesh who worked at the lodge. The suspects have been identified as Chandrajeet Jhankuram Bhardwaj, a 30-year-old man, Harishankar Lalchand Rajbhar, a 19-year-old man, both from Uttar Pradesh, and Anjudevi Saroj Chauhan, a 32-year-old woman from Jharkhand. Bhardwaj and Chauhan were in a relationship and resided together in Wadkhal, while Rajbhar had recently joined them in their room.

The motive behind the murder stemmed from an altercation between Kushwah and Bhardwaj, who had become enraged due to Kushwah’s physical intimacy with Chauhan. A week prior to the incident, Bhardwaj had threatened to kill Kushwah and subsequently purchased a new knife for the execution of his sinister plan.

On the fateful night, Bhardwaj instructed Chauhan to meet Kushwah in one of the lodge’s rooms. Following her, Bhardwaj and Rajbhar entered the room, where they forcefully pushed Kushwah to the ground and silenced him. One of the accused then sat on his chest, slit his throat, and gruesomely dismembered his private parts.

The shocking discovery was made by a hotel worker who went to check on Kushwah after he failed to show up for dinner. The police were immediately informed and upon reviewing the CCTV footage, were able to identify the culprits.

After obtaining the mobile numbers of the suspects and finding them switched off, the police conducted a search at their tea stall, where they discovered identity cards belonging to the accused. The authorities then received information that the suspects had hired a private vehicle to Pen and were en route to their native place. A thorough search of state transport buses heading towards Panvel led to their eventual arrest.

The accused were apprehended while planning their escape, bringing some relief to the grieving family of the victim. The Raigad Police have vowed to ensure justice is served in this heinous crime and are working diligently to gather all necessary evidence for a thorough investigation.

This shocking incident serves as a reminder of the importance of public safety and the need for swift action against perpetrators of such brutal crimes.
