Minneapolis Shooting Leaves One dead, One Injured, and Suspect in Custody

Minneapolis, MN – Tragedy struck in Minneapolis on Friday afternoon when a shooting incident claimed the life of one man, left another injured, and resulted in the arrest of a third individual. The incident unfolded in the 2400 block of Golden Valley Rd when Minneapolis police responded to reports of gunfire around 3:30 p.m.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered a man laying in an alley with a gunshot wound. Despite the valiant efforts of first responders to administer life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. Moments later, a man driving a Mercedes arrived at a hospital with a potentially life-threatening gunshot wound. Miraculously, the two-year-old child who accompanied him appeared to be unharmed.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased man and a second individual, identified as 21-year-old Darnell Cornelius Lewis, approached the Mercedes when the gunfire erupted. The Mercedes then fled the scene, showing signs of damage from the exchange of bullets. Lewis was subsequently arrested in connection with the shooting, while the identities of the deceased man and the Mercedes driver have yet to be released.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara praised the swift and decisive actions of the responding officers. “I am grateful for the outstanding police work of our responding Minneapolis Police Officers,” O’Hara stated. “They took quick action and attempted to save a life while also making an arrest of a gunman and recovering handguns.”
