Authorities in Philadelphia are investigating a tragic incident in which a family home was destroyed in a fire, resulting in the deaths of six family members and the injury of two police officers. The authorities suspect that a relative of the victims, identified as Canh Le, 43, may be responsible for the killings.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer revealed in a press conference that the remains of six individuals have been recovered from the ashes of the East Lansdowne home, including Canh Le. Stollsteimer believes that Canh Le shot his niece, and then subsequently killed the other family members before setting the house on fire. However, the exact cause of death is yet to be determined.

During the 911 call, the sound of gunshots could be heard, and Le’s mother informed the authorities that he had shot one of her grandchildren. She managed to escape the house and seek help. Surviving family members are said to be in shock, and the motive behind the attack remains unknown.

The victims have been identified as Canh Le’s brother, Xuong Le, 40, Xuong’s wife, Britni McLaughlin Le, 37, and their three children. Canh Le’s remains were found near a gun that was recovered from the fire remnants.

Further investigation into Canh Le’s background revealed that he had a previous arrest in 2006 on charges of making terroristic threats, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. While the first charge was dropped, he was placed in a diversion program for the lesser charges and given probation.

The injured police officers, 44-year-old John Meehan and 54-year-old David Schiazza, were both treated for their wounds and are now in stable condition. Stollsteimer praised officers from Upper Darby for their bravery in dragging the wounded officers to safety.

The community of East Lansdowne is in shock following this devastating incident. As the investigation continues, authorities hope to uncover more information about the motive behind the attack and bring justice to the victims and their grieving families.
