Details of the Investigation

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer provided an update on the case during a press conference. He revealed that six sets of remains have been recovered from the ashes of the destroyed home. The main suspect in the case is believed to be Canh Le, a 43-year-old family member who also died in the incident.
According to Stollsteimer, it is suspected that the victims were shot before the fire was set, although this remains unconfirmed. The sound of gunfire was reported during a distress call, and Le’s mother informed authorities that he had shot one of her grandchildren. She managed to escape and call for help.

The Victims

The victims in this tragedy have been identified as Canh Le’s brother, Xuong Le, aged 40, Xuong Le’s wife Britni McLaughlin Le, aged 37, and the couple’s three children. The family members who lost their lives were innocent victims caught in the midst of this horrific incident.
Canh Le’s remains were found near a gun recovered from the fire remnants, strengthening suspicions of his involvement in the crime.

Previous Criminal Record

Records show that Canh Le had a previous encounter with the law in 2006. He was arrested in Delaware County on charges of making terroristic threats, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. However, the first charge was dropped, and he was put on probation for the two lesser charges, serving community service and paying fines.

Officers’ Injuries

During the incident, two police officers were wounded by gunfire. Officer John Meehan of the East Lansdowne department underwent surgery for a left forearm wound and was discharged from the hospital on Friday. Officer David Schiazza of the Lansdowne department was treated for a leg wound and has also been released from the hospital.
Stollsteimer praised the heroic efforts of officers from Upper Darby who saved the lives of the wounded officers by pulling them to safety.
