Delaware County District Attorney Jack Stollsteimer revealed during a news conference that the remains of six individuals were recovered from the ashes of the destroyed home. The prime suspect in the case is Canh Le, 43, who is believed to have killed his niece and potentially the other victims as well. Tragically, Le also lost his own life in the incident.

According to Stollsteimer, gunfire was heard during a 911 call, and Le’s mother reported that he had shot one of her grandchildren. The mother managed to escape the burning house to seek help. The surviving family members are still reeling from the shocking events, and a motive for the crime has not yet been established.

The victims are presumed to be Canh Le’s brother, Xuong Le, 40, Xuong’s wife, Britni McLaughlin Le, 37, and the couple’s three children. Canh Le’s remains were found near a gun that was also recovered from the fire debris.

In a disturbing twist, court records reveal that Canh Le had a troubled past. In 2006, he was arrested in Delaware County on charges of making terroristic threats, trespassing, and disorderly conduct. Although the first charge was dropped, he entered a diversion program for the remaining two charges, which resulted in probation, community service, and fines.
