The incident took place on January 31 evening when a decapitated body was found, making it difficult to identify the victim. Police initially believed that stray dogs had attacked the body, as the head and one shoulder were missing. Despite the challenging circumstances, the police were determined to bring justice to the victim’s family.

After a meticulous 10-day investigation, the police were able to identify the deceased as Babulal, a 70-year-old resident of Timarni village in Harda district. Shockingly, it was revealed that his own niece, Lalita, and her partner, Imrat Goud, were responsible for disposing of his body after his natural death. The couple decided to dump Babulal’s body in their neighbor’s bathroom, as they did not have the means to perform the last rites due to financial constraints.

The Industrial Area Police station in-charge, Santosh Dudhi, informed that the decapitated body was discovered in a deserted bathroom situated behind Nanuram Mandloi’s house in Lodhi Mohalla. At first, the authorities were unable to identify the deceased individual. However, after examining the clothing and other evidence, it was determined to be Babulal, who lived with Lalita and Imrat.

The investigation uncovered that Imrat had rented a room from Rajendra Yadav in November 2023, claiming to be a couple with Lalita. Babulal also resided with them, as he rarely left the house due to his illness. Babulal’s monthly pension of Rs 16,000 was the only source of income for Lalita and Imrat.

On January 27, the landlord, Rajendra Yadav, noticed that the rented room was locked and assumed that the tenants had gone to their village. However, on January 31, a decapitated body was discovered in the abandoned bathroom, later identified as Babulal. The post-mortem examination confirmed that Babulal died of natural causes.

As a result of their actions, Lalita and Imrat, along with the landlord, Rajendra Yadav, have been arrested and charged under Section 188 and 176 of the IPC. In their statement, Lalita and Imrat explained that they resorted to this shocking act due to their financial constraints.

This heinous crime has left the community in disbelief, as the details surrounding the incident continue to unravel. The police are committed to ensuring that justice is served, providing some solace to the grieving family of Babulal..
