PITTSFIELD, UK – In a major breakthrough, the Pittsfield police Department has announced the arrest of a suspect in connection with the armed robbery that took place at NBT Bank on Merrill Road last November. The suspect, identified as 51-year-old Christopher Oliveri, was apprehended this morning near his residence in Milford, Massachusetts.

The incident occurred on November 29, 2022, when Oliveri, wearing a mask, entered the bank and brandished a firearm, terrifying the staff. He proceeded to order the tellers to secure the premises and access the vault. After restraining the employees with zip ties, the suspect managed to escape with approximately $143,960.

Fortunately, no physical injuries were sustained during the robbery. The quick actions of the tellers, who managed to free themselves and alert the authorities, played a crucial role in the subsequent investigation.

Following an extensive inquiry, law enforcement authorities were able to link Oliveri to the crime. It was discovered that he had rented a white Nissan Pathfinder to travel from Milford to Pittsfield for the purpose of committing the robbery and returning.

Oliveri will face arraignment in Worcester District Court for charges stemming from the bank robbery, as well as for the illegal possession of the firearm confiscated during his arrest. Further arraignment in Pittsfield District Court is also expected, as additional charges may be filed based on evidence found during the search of his residence.
