Man identified as sixth victim in deadly desert shooting
A tragic incident unfolded in a remote area of the desert northwest of Victorville last month, resulting in the death of six individuals during a scheduled meet-up for a marijuana deal. The latest victim to be identified is Adrian Ochoa-Salgado, a 41-year-old resident of Llano, an unincorporated community located in Los Angeles County.

The bodies of Ochoa-Salgado and five others were discovered about 4 miles from Highway 395 near Shadow Mountain Road on January 23. The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department revealed that all six victims had succumbed to gunshots. Additionally, four of the victims had been set ablaze by their attackers, while another victim was found in an SUV that had been riddled with bullets.
Arrests made in connection with the murders
Authorities acted swiftly in their pursuit of justice, arresting five suspects on January 28 on suspicion of murder. These individuals are currently being held without bail as the investigation continues to unfold. The suspects’ identities have not been disclosed at this time.
A closer look at the victims
In addition to Adrian Ochoa-Salgado, the other victims have also been identified. They are Baldemar Mondragon-Albarran, 34, of Adelanto; Franklin Noel Bonilla, 22, and Kevin Dariel Bonilla, 25, of Hesperia; Narcisco Sandoval, 47, of San Rafael; and Jose Ruelas-Calderon, 45, of El Mirage. Each of these individuals had their lives tragically cut short in this senseless act of violence.
Possible ties to organized crime
While authorities have not yet confirmed whether the killings are related to cartels, Sheriff Shannon Dicus did acknowledge during a press conference in late January that organized crime was involved. The investigation is ongoing, and law enforcement agencies are working tirelessly to unravel the motive behind these heinous acts.
