Local Man Arrested After police Pursuit
Bartholomew County Sheriff deputies, along with assistance from other area law enforcement agencies, apprehended a man following a high-speed chase that originated on River Road and East County Road 550N, eventually leading onto northbound I-65.
The incident began at 12:55 a.m. on Friday when Bartholomew County Sheriff Deputy Nathan Holland attempted to pull over a vehicle at the intersection of River Road and East 550 North. Instead of complying, the suspect chose to flee, prompting the deputies to initiate a pursuit.
The chase wound its way through northern Bartholomew County before heading north on I-65. To stop the suspect’s vehicle, the Franklin Police Department and Johnson County Sheriff’s Office deployed stop sticks near the 90 mile marker, successfully deflating the tires.
The Bargersville Police Department then executed a well-executed pit maneuver on the suspect’s vehicle at the 95 mile marker, bringing it to a halt. The suspect, later identified as Adam Cameron, a 34-year-old resident of Columbus, was apprehended and taken into custody.

During the arrest, it became apparent that Cameron had sustained multiple self-inflicted lacerations on his body. As a result, he was immediately transported to an Indianapolis hospital for medical treatment before being returned to Bartholomew County.
Following the incident, Cameron was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour hold, facing preliminary charges of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and being a habitual traffic violator (HTV), both classified as Level 6 felonies.
The successful resolution of this case was made possible through the collaborative efforts of several law enforcement agencies, including the Columbus Police Department, Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Edinburgh Police Department, Franklin Police Department, Bargersville Police Department, Whiteland Police Department, and Indiana State Police.
