Tragic Accident in Udaipur: Five Men Killed as Jeep Overturns on Gogunda-Pindwara Highway

Five individuals tragically lost their lives on Sunday night in the Udaipur district of Rajasthan, as the jeep they were travelling in overturned, according to local authorities.

The incident occurred on the Gogunda-Pindwara highway 27, near Okliya Tunnel.

The victims have been identified as Manoj, Puna, Nathu, and Bheema, while the fifth individual has yet to be identified. These friends were returning to their village, Devla, from Gogunda after a shopping trip. Unfortunately, they were under the influence of alcohol, and the jeep was being driven at high speed.

Tragedy struck when the jeep passed through the Okhliya Tunnel, causing the driver to lose control. The vehicle collided with the road divider, resulting in its overturning.

The impact of the accident was so severe that three of the victims lost their lives on the spot, while the other two succumbed to their injuries on the way to the hospital.

The police had to make great efforts to rescue the trapped victims from inside the jeep, a task that took several hours to accomplish.

Prabhu Singh Chundawat, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bekriya police station, revealed that the individuals in the ill-fated jeep were all residents of Devla village and were intoxicated at the time of the incident.

Following the incident, District Collector Arvind Poswal and Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhuwan Bhushan Yadav visited the scene to assess the situation and offer support to the grieving families.

The bodies underwent postmortem examinations, and subsequently, they were handed over to their respective relatives on Monday, as stated by the SHO.
