Wanted New Yorker arrested for Drunk Driving in Hudson Valley

A wanted man from New York has been apprehended by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office for allegedly driving under the influence in the Hudson Valley. The arrest took place over the weekend, and the suspect has been identified as 59-year-old John P. Ballou from Dover Plains, New York.

According to reports, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office pulled over Ballou on Route 22 in the Town of Dover on Wednesday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. After interacting with Ballou, officers suspected he was driving while intoxicated and took him into custody.

During the processing, it was discovered that Ballou had previous convictions for driving while intoxicated and was also wanted on an active warrant out of Massachusetts. As a result, he is now facing charges of felony DWI and being a fugitive from justice.

Ballou was arraigned before the Town of Dover Court and has been remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with no bail. Extradition proceedings in County Court are pending.
