Child Found in Critical Condition in Filthy Apartment: Mother Faces Charges
A three-year-old child remains in the hospital after being discovered last week in a distressing state, struggling to breathe. The Fairborn Police Department reported that the victim is now listed in stable condition but remains in the ICU.
On January 8, Fairborn officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Wallace Drive following a distress call regarding a child experiencing breathing difficulties. The caller, a parent of the child, informed dispatchers that the child was alone in the apartment.

Upon entering the apartment, the police were met with a heartbreaking sight. They found a conscious but unresponsive three-year-old child. Without hesitation, emergency medical services were immediately summoned, and the child was transported to a nearby hospital.
Disturbing details emerged during the subsequent investigation. Court documents obtained by News Center 7 revealed the shocking conditions inside the apartment. A decaying mouse was found on the living room couch cushion, alongside numerous fly traps covered in dead flies. Bugs were crawling on the walls, floors, and even the beds. The refrigerator and freezer contained dead bugs and moldy food.
The child’s sleeping area was particularly distressing. A severely soiled mattress and blanket were discovered, along with numerous empty PediaSure-brand nutrition and protein drinks scattered throughout the room. The apartment was described as “cluttered and filthy” and was deemed unfit for human occupancy by Fairborn Code Enforcement, resulting in its immediate condemnation.
The child’s condition was described as “grossly malnourished” in the court documents. Due to malnourishment and prolonged periods of immobility, the child’s legs remained contracted in a fetal position. This tragic revelation sheds light on the extent of the child’s suffering.

Authorities identified the parent as 25-year-old Rabyah Muballigh. Following her identification, she was located and taken into custody. Muballigh is currently facing a felony count of endangering children and is detained in the Greene County Jail, according to online records.
