Mark Knutson, Fargo Marathon Race Director, Dies in Tragic Bicycle Accident
Mark Knutson, a well-known figure in the running community, tragically passed away at the age of 53 on July 9. The incident occurred early Sunday morning in Detroit Lakes, where he was involved in a collision between his bicycle and a pickup truck towing a boat.
Emergency services were alerted to the scene at around 7.06am, where they discovered a serious collision between the westbound cyclist, Mark Knutson, and the westbound pickup truck driven by Jacob Grabowski, 42. Despite immediate resuscitation efforts, Knutson’s injuries were severe, and he was transported by Life Link III helicopter to Sanford Hospital in Fargo. Sadly, he succumbed to his injuries and passed away.

Mark Knutson had been the race director of the Fargo Marathon and had made significant contributions to the running community.
