Investigation Launched into Brutal Murder of Four Family Members in Kamwenge District
In a horrifying turn of events, police in Kamwenge District have launched an investigation into the brutal murder of four family members. The incident occurred on Monday at 10pm in Rwenchwera village, Kinyonza ward, Nkoma Katalyeba Town Council. The victims have been identified as Gladys Turyahebwa, 42, the mother, and her three children; Anita Nuwamanya, 18, Susan Ainemani, 16, and Onesta Atusasire, 9.

According to Mr Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West region police spokesperson, three of the victims died on the spot, while Susan Ainemani succumbed to her injuries at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital on Tuesday morning. The assailant, identified as Sam Asiimwe, 33, a resident of the same village and a neighbor to the deceased, was subsequently lynched by enraged residents.
The family head, Mr Denis Turyabe, was away in a nearby trading center at the time of the incident. The cause of death for the family members is yet to be determined, and the police are actively investigating the incident. A police team, led by Asp Akol, is already at the scene to establish the circumstances surrounding the tragedy and the motive of the killer.
Adding to the tragedy, only one child, a 1-year-old, survived because he was not inside the house during the attack. After committing the crime, the suspect locked himself inside the same house. However, an alarm had already been raised, prompting neighbors to intervene and apprehend him, leading to his lynching. The motive behind this shocking act remains unknown.
The community is in shock and mourning the loss of these innocent lives. The police are working tirelessly to ensure justice is served and to provide answers to the grieving family. As investigations continue, the residents of Kamwenge District are urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the authorities.
