Hamas has released a new video showing what appears to be the lifeless bodies of two Israeli hostages. The video, released on Monday, also featured a third hostage, who was seen reading a script in front of a blank white wall. In the video, the hostage claimed that the two others had been killed by Israeli strikes.
Israel’s military spokesperson expressed serious concern regarding the fate of the hostages shown in the video, but denied that one of them, identified as Mr. Svirsky, was killed by Israeli fire. The spokesperson stated that the building in which they were held was not a target and was not attacked by Israeli forces.

The fate of the three hostages, Yossi Sharabi, Itai Svirsky, and Noa Argamani, remains uncertain. They were among the 240 people taken hostage by Hamas militants during a cross-border rampage into southern Israel on October 7. While around half of the hostages were released during a November truce, Israel claims that 132 remain in Gaza, with 25 dying in captivity.
Israel has generally declined to respond to Hamas’ public messaging on the hostages. Autopsies of recovered hostages have shown causes of death inconsistent with Hamas’ claims that they were killed in airstrikes. Israeli officials have also acknowledged the risks faced by hostages during their offensive and have taken precautions to minimize harm.
Meanwhile, the Israeli military continued its bombardment of Gaza as night fell. Medics reported casualties from Israeli missile strikes in Al-Bureij and the Tel Al-Hawa suburb of Gaza City. Israel has withdrawn another division of troops as part of plans for more targeted operations against Hamas leaders in the south.
In a separate incident, two Palestinians carried out coordinated car rammings in central Israel, killing one woman and injuring 12 others. The police described the incident as a terrorist attack and have arrested two suspects. The two individuals entered Israel illegally from the occupied West Bank.
