Teenager Dies While Subway Surfing in Brooklyn: Victim Identified
In a tragic incident that has shocked the community, a teenage boy lost his life while subway surfing in Brooklyn on Friday. The victim has been identified as Alam Reyes, a 14-year-old resident of Queens.
The incident occurred when Reyes was riding on top of a Coney Island-bound F train. According to the NYPD, he fell to his death near McDonald and N Avenue around 2:17 p.m. Despite the efforts of emergency responders, Reyes could not be saved and was pronounced dead at the scene.

This unfortunate incident marks the first subway surfing death of 2024 and the second since the MTA launched its anti-subway surfing campaign in September. Before this incident, subway surfing was not commonly associated with the F line. However, the MTA’s efforts to combat this dangerous trend have already yielded positive results. Last year, there were five subway surfing deaths, compared to five in the previous four years.
MTA spokespersons have emphasized the importance of educating the public about the risks involved in subway surfing. They have collaborated with major social media companies to remove over 10,000 videos and photos promoting this hazardous activity.
