Man Charged with Murder Takes Plea Deal for Possessing “Ghost Gun”
In a surprising turn of events, court documents have revealed that Steven Lawrence Terry, a 20-year-old man who was initially charged with second-degree murder, has taken a plea deal. The deal, which was finalized in December, resulted in Terry being sentenced to probation in exchange for admitting to possession of a “ghost gun.” This shocking development has left many in the community questioning the fairness of the justice system.

Terry’s conviction for possessing a gun without a serial number occurred on December 20, 2023. Previously, he was scheduled to stand trial for the murder charge on January 31, 2024. However, the court records show that the murder charge was ultimately dismissed. Instead, Terry received a 78-day jail sentence, with full credit for time served. He will now be under probation for three years and must pay a $340 fine.
The incident that led to Terry’s arrest involved a fatal shooting at an apartment on McKnight Road in North St. Paul back in June 2023. According to the police, Terry was one of the individuals who fled the scene. Law enforcement officers conducted surveillance on him and witnessed him getting into an Uber with a woman, later identified as his mother, Kimberly Terry.
During a subsequent search, officers discovered a handgun without a serial number in a bag located between Terry and his mother. This firearm matched the ghost guns that were found at the murder scene. Kimberly Terry claimed that the gun belonged to her. Unfortunately, the shooting resulted in the tragic death of 24-year-old Anthony R. Rojas.
Investigators suspect that the shooting was a targeted effort to rob Rojas of his guns and cash. However, no one has yet been convicted for Rojas’ murder. Interestingly, court records indicate that Kimberly Terry is scheduled to stand trial on February 22, 2024. She faces one count of possessing a gun without a serial number.

It is worth noting that another individual charged in connection with the incident had their case dismissed last year due to insufficient evidence, according to court documents.
