By | January 14, 2024

Sam Claflin, the talented actor known for his roles in films like “The Hunger Games” series, has received high praise for his portrayal in the hit show “Daisy Jones & the Six.” But it’s not just fans and critics who are applauding his performance. Claflin recently revealed in a red-carpet interview with E! News that he received validation directly from the rock legend herself, Stevie Nicks, who inspired the show.

In the interview, Claflin shared that Nicks personally reached out to express her admiration for his performance. Despite being nominated for the Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Claflin made it clear that Nicks’ approval meant so much more to him. He said, “Stevie Nicks reached out personally, which to me, is [like] I’ve won already. I don’t care about winning tonight. I feel like that recognition, to me, means the world.”

But Nicks didn’t stop at a simple compliment. She even sent Claflin a thoughtful gift to show her appreciation. He revealed, “She sent me a bunch of flowers. I arrived in L.A. with this note. That to me is everything. So I feel very smug right now, very, very blessed.”

“Daisy Jones & the Six” is based on Taylor Jenkins Reid’s novel of the same name. In the screen adaptation, Claflin takes on the role of Billy Dunne, the lead singer of the fictional band. The series follows the band’s journey as they rise to fame in the 1970s and explores the dramatic conflicts that lead to their eventual breakup. Alongside Claflin, the show features talented actors like Riley Keough, Suki Waterhouse, Will Harrison, Josh Whitehouse, and Sebastian Chacon, who portray the other members of the band. Camila Morrone also stars as Camila Alvarez, Billy’s wife and the band’s photographer.

While Nicks was thrilled with Claflin’s performance, she couldn’t help but feel a tinge of sadness that her late bandmate and friend, Christine McVie, couldn’t see the show. McVie, the co-lead vocalist and keyboardist of Fleetwood Mac, passed away in November 2022 after a battle with cancer. In an emotional Instagram post last August, Nicks shared her thoughts on the show and expressed her wish for McVie to have seen it. She wrote, “Just finished watching Daisy Jones + the 6 for the 2nd time. In the beginning, it wasn’t really my story, but Riley seamlessly, soon became my story. It brought back memories that made me feel like a ghost watching my own story. It was very emotional for me. I just wish Christine could have seen it. She would have loved it. Hopefully it will continue…”

Nicks’ words highlight the emotional impact of the show and the connection she felt to the story. It’s a testament to the power of Claflin’s performance and the way he brought the character of Billy Dunne to life.
