Two-Year-Old Girl Allegedly Beaten to Death by Step-Mother in Jashore Town
A tragic incident unfolded in Jashore town this afternoon, as a two-year-old girl was allegedly beaten to death by her stepmother. The victim, identified as Ayesha Mariam, was the daughter of Pintu Mia from the Kharki-Bamanpara area of the district town, according to police and local sources.

Authorities have detained the child’s father and stepmother, Parveen Khatun, for interrogation. Abdur Razzak, the officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, confirmed the detentions. Neighbours reported that Ayesha’s father, Pintu, is a painter who leaves home every morning for work.
The incident occurred when Pintu was away from home, and Parveen allegedly beat Ayesha, leaving her seriously injured. As the girl lost consciousness and fell to the ground, neighbours rushed to her aid and transported her to Jashore General Hospital. Tragically, doctors declared her dead upon arrival at the hospital. Rahima, a neighbour, stated that the child had sustained injury marks on various parts of her body, including her head, mouth, and chest.
Dr Suvashis Roy, a medical officer at Jashore Sadar Hospital, revealed that the child succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital. The exact cause of her injuries will be determined during the autopsy.
Pintu, who moved to Jashore from Chandpur a few years ago for work, married Parveen one year ago following his first wife’s extramarital affair and subsequent remarriage. Parveen, who had been divorced by her first husband, also has a nine-year-old daughter from her previous marriage.

Upon receiving the devastating news, Pintu rushed to the hospital, where he discovered his daughter’s lifeless body. He remains perplexed as to why his daughter was killed.
OC Razzak confirmed that a police team promptly arrived at the scene upon receiving information and detained both the stepmother and father. Further action will be taken once the investigation is complete and the autopsy report is obtained.
