Woman Accused of Strangling Girlfriend Faces Judge

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — The woman accused of strangling her girlfriend and dumping her body near Buffalo Bayou appeared in court on Friday afternoon.

Shania Turner, the suspect in the case, had her bond set at $100,000, which was significantly lower than the $500,000 requested by prosecutors.

The victim, Tierra Horn, 18, was last seen on January 2nd, and her body was discovered on January 5th along a hiking trail just yards away from Turner’s downtown apartment.

According to Horn’s sisters, the couple had been in an on-and-off relationship for over a year, which was often tumultuous and toxic.

Skinesha Granville, Horn’s sister, revealed that the fights between the two often revolved around accusations of infidelity.

“Shania used to cheat on my sister while she was in the house with her,” Granville said.

Granville also claimed that Turner was frequently violent towards her sister, recalling instances of physical abuse.

After Turner was arrested, Granville expressed her hope that she would not be released from jail.

In court, it was revealed that Turner had been ordered to stay away from four women, including Granville, should she make bail.

Tierra Horn’s tragic demise came just days before her 19th birthday. Her body was found along Buffalo Bayou, leaving her family devastated.

Rokeisha Calton, Horn’s other sister, expressed her shock and disbelief over the motive behind the murder.

Police claim that Turner strangled Horn after accusing her of giving her a sexually transmitted disease, but Calton remains uncertain about the true motive.

As the legal proceedings continue, Horn’s family seeks justice for their beloved sister’s untimely death.
