Milind Deora Denies Quitting Congress, Rejects Speculation of Shiv Sena Switch

Milind Deora, a senior leader of the Congress party, has dismissed rumors that he is planning to leave the party and join the Shiv Sena led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Speaking to reporters, Deora stated that he is currently in discussions with his supporters and has not yet made a decision regarding his future plans.

Responding to reports in some sections of the media, Deora categorically stated that these rumors are false. The speculation arose after the Shiv Sena (UBT) claimed the Mumbai South Lok Sabha constituency, which was previously represented by Deora. This move did not sit well with the Congress leader, who expressed his displeasure in a video statement released last Sunday.

Milind Deora, the son of Congress veteran Murli Deora, previously won the Mumbai South seat in 2004 and 2009. However, he was the first runner-up in both the 2014 and 2019 elections, losing to Shiv Sena (Undivided) leader Arvind Sawant. Deora stressed that his family has a long history of representing the constituency and was not elected solely based on any political wave.
