Despite repeated commands to exit the vehicle, Chiaradonna initially refused but eventually opened the car door. However, he continued to resist peacefully surrendering, leading the police to utilize less-lethal force, including the deployment of a K-9 unit. Shockingly, Chiaradonna stabbed the K-9 with a screwdriver during the altercation.

Chiaradonna then attempted to flee on foot, with officers and the K-9 in pursuit. Authorities revealed that he once again assaulted the K-9 and confronted the officers. In response, one officer resorted to using deadly force, shooting Chiaradonna. The suspect was immediately rushed to the hospital but tragically succumbed to his injuries several hours later.

Thankfully, no law enforcement officers were injured during the incident, and the injured K-9 received medical treatment for its wound and was subsequently released after a visit to the veterinarian, according to officials.

To maintain the integrity of the investigation, the identity of the officer who employed deadly force will not be disclosed until a formal interview has taken place.
