Hassan, Jan 13 (IANS) – In a tragic incident that has left the community in shock, a 21-year-old woman took her own life near Belur town in Karnataka after facing public humiliation by a jilted lover.
Identifying the Victim
The young woman, identified as Sangeetha, was the daughter of Jayanna, a resident of Nidagudu village.
The Arrest
The police have apprehended the jilted lover, Shivu, in connection with the case.
Relentless Harassment
According to the police, Shivu had been persistently pressuring Sangeetha to enter into a relationship with him. He even approached her parents, seeking their permission for marriage. However, Sangeetha’s parents made it clear that they had no plans to get her married anytime soon.
Despite their rejection, Shivu continued to harass Sangeetha.
Temple Incident
The situation took a horrifying turn when Sangeetha visited a temple. Shivu verbally abused and physically assaulted her, berating her for not answering his calls and reciprocating his feelings. He even went as far as threatening to kill her if she did not reciprocate his love.
Shivu demanded that Sangeetha must answer his calls at all times.

The public humiliation Sangeetha faced during this incident deeply disturbed her. Upon returning from the temple, she tragically took her own life.
