Franklin Woman Killed in Three-Vehicle Crash on Interstate 95 in Stonington

STONINGTON, Conn. – Connecticut State Police are currently investigating a tragic accident that occurred on Thursday on Interstate 95 in Stonington. The crash involved three vehicles and sadly resulted in the death of a Franklin woman.

The incident took place at approximately 11:53 a.m., just half a mile north of Exit 91. According to authorities, heavy traffic was present on Interstate 95 when a male driver of a Mazda CX-5 crashed into the rear of a Honda Civic. The impact caused the Mazda to also collide with the left rear corner of a Toyota Tundra.

The force of the collision pushed the Honda off the right side of the road, causing it to come to a stop in a ditch. Meanwhile, the Mazda rolled over onto its side and ended up on the left shoulder of the road. The Toyota remained in the left lane.

Tragically, the driver of the Honda Civic, identified as 78-year-old Barbara Dyer from Franklin, was pronounced dead at the hospital after being transported there by ambulance.

The driver of the Mazda sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The driver of the Toyota, fortunately, did not sustain any injuries.

All three vehicles involved in the crash were eventually towed from the scene.
