Barboursville Man Charged in December Drive-By Shooting in Harrisonburg
A man from Barboursville, Virginia, has been charged in connection with a drive-by shooting that occurred in Harrisonburg last December. The incident left a couple unharmed but with damage to their vehicle.

According to the Harrisonburg Police Department, the couple reported that while driving on Old Furnace Road, another vehicle passed them in the same direction. Shortly after, they heard a loud bang, which they believed to be a gunshot. Upon inspection of their vehicle, officers discovered a bullet hole, confirming that the vehicle had been shot at.
After a month-long investigation, authorities identified 30-year-old Chavis Rashad Williams, a resident of Barboursville, as the suspected gunman. Williams now faces multiple charges, including maliciously shooting at an occupied vehicle, unlawfully shooting into an occupied dwelling, attempted malicious wounding, shooting from a moving vehicle, possessing a firearm as a convicted felon, and using a firearm while attempting a malicious wounding as a convicted felon.
At the time of his arrest, Williams was already in custody at Middle River Regional Jail in Verona on unrelated charges from another jurisdiction. He was brought before a Harrisonburg magistrate and is currently being held without bond.
