RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Two out of four defendants have received their sentences for their involvement in a 2021 quadruple shooting at a convenience store in Richmond that resulted in the tragic deaths of two children.
Kalah Mangram, one of the shooters, has been sentenced to 55 years of active incarceration, while Javon Pegram, the driver of the shooting vehicle, has been sentenced to 47 years of active incarceration. Both defendants were found guilty of seven charges each related to the deadly shooting.

The shooting took place on November 12, 2021, at the O.M.G. Convenience Store located at the intersection of Creighton Road and Nine Mile Road. The incident claimed the lives of two boys aged 9 and 14, and left two adults critically injured, although they eventually recovered.
A few days following the incident, the Richmond Police Department announced the arrests of three suspects linked to the shooting. Court records reveal that two of the suspects, Mangram and Pegram, were 17 years old at the time of the incident. The third suspect is identified as 18-year-old Clintoine Baker. The fourth suspect, Zayon Everett, was charged in connection with the shooting on June 29, 2022, according to court documents.
In August 2023, Everett, Mangram, and Pegram were found guilty in a joint jury trial, as confirmed by the Richmond Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office. The three defendants were also charged with the attempted murder of a fifth victim.
Everett is scheduled to be sentenced at 12 p.m. on April 19, and Baker is set to appear in court for a jury trial at 10 a.m. on May 21.
