FREEHOLD TOWNSHIP, NJ — A tragic incident occurred on Tuesday, January 9, when a pedestrian was struck by a pick-up truck on Route 9 in Freehold Township. The victim has been identified as David Belcher, a 61-year-old individual, according to the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office.

The authorities have not yet disclosed the hometown of the victim or provided further details about the accident. However, at approximately 5:35 p.m., the Freehold Township police received a distress call regarding the incident. Upon arrival at the southbound lanes of Route 9, just north of the Route 33 interchange, the police found Belcher lying on the road. Tragically, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the 2001 Ford F-150 pick-up truck involved in the accident, a 48-year-old individual, remained at the scene, cooperating with the investigation, as stated by the prosecutor’s office. So far, no criminal charges or traffic summons have been issued in connection with this incident.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office, along with the Monmouth County Serious Collision Analysis Response Team (SCART) and the Freehold Township Police Department, is currently conducting an investigation into the accident.
