Suspect Arrested in Deadly Citadel Mall Shooting

The Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) has announced the arrest of Josiah Brown, a 22-year-old suspect, in connection with a deadly shooting that occurred on Christmas Eve at the Citadel Mall. Brown was apprehended on Tuesday, January 9, after a warrant was issued for his arrest.

The charges against Brown include First Degree Murder, two counts of Attempted First Degree Murder, and two counts of First Degree Assault. The shooting resulted in the death of 18-year-old Teryus Thomas and left two others injured.

According to CSPD, the incident took place at the Citadel Mall around 4:30 p.m. on Christmas Eve. A fight broke out between two groups of people, leading to shots being fired. When officers arrived at the scene, they found three individuals, including Thomas, who had been shot. Tragically, Thomas succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Violent Offender Fugitive Task Force, Tactical Enforcement Unit, and K9 Unit, successfully apprehended Brown on Wednesday, January 10, without any complications.
