As New Year’s Eve approaches, the National Capital Region (NCR) is expected to witness numerous parties, especially during the last week of December. Restaurants and other party venues have organized several events, resulting in a surge in liquor sales. However, the increasing demand has also led to illegal sale and supply of liquor.

To address this issue, the excise department has set up a toll-free number and a WhatsApp helpline for residents to report any illegal sale of liquor. They have also urged people planning to serve liquor at parties to apply for occasional bar licenses.

In related news, the Enforcement Bureau police arrested a 29-year-old man in Coimbatore for manufacturing liquor illegally. The police seized 1,600 liquor bottles and 175 liters of rectified spirit mixed with color and flavor agents from his residence. The accused had been involved in the illegal production of alcohol for eight months. Similarly, a woman was raped and murdered in Gwalior district, and a man arrested for consuming liquor in dry Bihar was found dead in a police lockup.

These incidents highlight the importance of cracking down on illegal liquor activities and enforcing strict regulations to ensure the safety and well-being of the public. The excise department’s efforts to curb illegal sale and supply of liquor are commendable, and the public is encouraged to cooperate by reporting any suspicious activities.
