In addition to the Burnham family tragedy, Joseph Dalton, 37, and Floridema Gabriel Perez, 31, along with Perez’s 2-year-old son, Anthony Elmer Mendez, lost their lives when Dalton’s mobile home rolled onto Perez’s during the storm. The overall death toll in Tennessee rose to six, with 83 individuals injured and 23 currently receiving treatment at local hospitals.
In the face of this calamity, the community has rallied around the Burnham family, demonstrating their unwavering support. A GoFundMe page was set up initially with a modest target of $5,000, but the outpouring of compassion has led to over $73,000 in donations. These funds aim to aid the family in rebuilding their home and covering Arlan’s funeral expenses. Arlan, a fourth grader at West Creek Elementary School, will be deeply missed by his family and community.
The tornado’s impact extended beyond the loss of lives, as it brought hail, widespread damage, and power outages. Consequently, Clarksville declared a state of emergency. Tennessee Governor Bill Lee expressed his condolences to the affected families and urged residents to follow official guidance.
