Tragic Incident: 14-Year-Old Student Dies While Collecting Flood Relief Material
In a heart-wrenching incident, a 14-year-old student lost her life while waiting to collect flood relief supplies distributed by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK) in Thiruvottiyur on Saturday, December 9. The victim, identified as V Yuvashree from Karunanidhi Nagar in Tondiarpet, tragically succumbed to her injuries at the hospital.

The distribution drive, organized by AIADMK functionaries, was in full swing when the unfortunate incident occurred. Former Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, who was present at the event, reportedly departed before the girl collapsed. According to a police officer, Yuvashree was waiting on the roadside when she suddenly lost consciousness, experienced a seizure, and collapsed. The impact of the fall caused severe injuries to her face. Despite being rushed to Stanley Government Hospital, she could not survive her injuries.
In an interview with Sun News, Yuvashree’s mother, Sokkkamma, expressed disbelief over her daughter’s sudden demise. She revealed that her daughter had no pre-existing medical condition that could have led to her death. Sokkamma also shared the horrifying details of Yuvashree’s injuries, stating that her teeth were broken, and she had cuts on her chin and injuries on her neck. Neighbors, who also spoke to the channel, confirmed that the teenager had no known illnesses. They criticized the AIADMK for not adopting a more organized approach to distributing the relief material, suggesting that delivering the supplies directly to homes would have been a safer and more efficient method.
The untimely death of Yuvashree has left the community in shock and grief. As questions continue to arise regarding the circumstances surrounding her collapse, authorities must investigate the incident thoroughly to determine any potential negligence or oversight. The AIADMK, in particular, should assess its distribution protocols to prevent such unfortunate incidents from occurring in the future.
