The search for a missing South Carolina woman has come to a tragic end, as authorities have discovered her lifeless body. The victim has been identified as 56-year-old Regina Veronica Arroyo from Barnwell. The Lexington County Coroner’s Office confirmed the news on Monday.
Arroyo was reported missing on November 30, and her body was found in the North Fork Edisto River. Although the cause of death has not been disclosed to the public, authorities have classified it as a homicide.

The discovery took place on December 3 when a kayaker spotted the body in the river near Wagner Highway in the Leesville area of Lexington County. The coroner’s office was immediately alerted and made their way to the scene.
An autopsy was performed on December 5 at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. However, the results of the autopsy have not been released as the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department continues its investigation into the circumstances surrounding Arroyo’s death.
The area where the body was recovered is more than 30 miles away from Barnwell, raising questions about how Arroyo ended up there. The authorities are working diligently to piece together the events leading to her tragic demise.
