Minh Nguyen Arrested for Murder of Duong Thi Thuy Troung: Latest Update on Dothan Teen’s Death

DOTHAN, Ala. (WDHN) – Authorities have identified the victim involved in a fatal altercation in Dothan on Saturday, which resulted in the death of a 17-year-old girl. Houston Coroner Robert Byrd confirmed that the victim was Duong Thi Thuy Troung, a resident of Dothan.

Minh Nguyen, a 54-year-old resident of Dothan, has been charged with Troung’s murder. According to the police, Troung was the daughter of Nguyen’s ex-girlfriend.

The incident was reported to the authorities after they received a call about suspicious circumstances at a residence on Sedona Lane in Dothan. Upon reaching the scene, they discovered Troung unconscious, showing signs of physical altercation.

Dothan Fire and Rescue immediately provided medical assistance to Troung before transporting her to a nearby hospital. However, despite their lifesaving efforts, she tragically succumbed to her injuries later at the hospital.

To determine the exact cause of death, Troung’s body will be sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for further examination.

Nguyen has been arrested and charged with one count of Murder. He is currently being held without bond in the Houston County Jail.
