Initially, it was reported as a double shooting that left one person dead and another injured. However, further investigation revealed that 32-year-old Jasmine Eason was the only victim who was fatally shot. The suspect, identified as 36-year-old Kordelro Harris, was found at the scene with a stab wound.

Harris claimed that two unidentified men wearing ski masks broke into his bedroom, armed with guns and a knife, demanding money. According to his statement to the police, one of the intruders stabbed him in the hand and shot Eason.

Eason and Harris were both taken to a nearby hospital, where Eason succumbed to her injuries.

During the investigation, four juveniles were discovered unharmed inside the residence, three of whom were Eason’s children.

Contradicting Harris’ account of the incident, a 17-year-old witness and the two younger children were interviewed by investigators and provided conflicting statements.

Upon executing a search warrant at the home, the police discovered a bloody 9mm handgun and several spent 9mm casings. The handgun was reported stolen during a car burglary in December 2021. Additionally, an AR Diamondback rifle, reported stolen in February 2018, was also found.

Furthermore, the police found a glass jar containing marijuana and a clear baggie containing cocaine inside the residence.

After being confronted with the evidence that contradicted his initial story, Harris admitted to shooting Eason with the 9mm handgun found in his possession. He claimed that during a fight, Eason stabbed him in the hand, which angered him, leading him to shoot her as she tried to flee.

Harris is now facing charges of second-degree murder, possession of controlled substances with the intent to manufacture or sell, possession of a firearm during a felony, theft of property, and aggravated assault.

He is expected to appear in court on Monday at 9 a.m.
