Girl Accused of Murdering Brianna Ghey Claims She Only Witnessed Attack Due to Screaming Noise, Manchester Court Hears

Girl X, one of the accused in the murder of Brianna Ghey, testified in court that she was walking away from the victim when she heard a noise that sounded like someone screaming. She turned around and saw her co-accused, identified as boy Y, attacking Brianna. Girl X and boy Y, who were both 15 years old at the time, have denied the murder charges.

The prosecution presented evidence in the form of a handwritten “murder plan” found in girl X’s bedroom, as well as text messages exchanged between girl X and boy Y that indicated a plan to lure Brianna to the park and kill her. The court also learned that girl X had made notes about serial killers and described herself as a “satanist”, revealing a fixation with torture, violence, and death.

During her testimony, girl X denied any involvement in the murder and claimed that talk of harming Brianna was just a fantasy. She said she believed they were going to the park to hang out and had walked away from the group to stretch her legs. It was then that she heard the screaming noise and turned around to witness the attack. She stated that she saw boy Y stabbing Brianna multiple times and saw her fall to the ground.

Girl X admitted that the attack left her in shock and that it was not what she expected or wanted to happen. She explained that she did not intervene because boy Y could easily overpower her. After the attack, she checked if Brianna was breathing but couldn’t find any signs of life. When she saw boy Y run off, she panicked and fled as well.

The court heard that girl X initially lied to her mother and the police, claiming that Brianna had left to meet someone from Manchester. She admitted to being scared because of the text messages and said she was defending herself and boy Y at the time. She also revealed that she sent messages to Brianna on Snapchat after her death out of paranoia.

Girl X expressed feeling really upset about Brianna’s death. The trial continues, and both defendants maintain their innocence.
