EB Wireman Prasanna Identified as Victim Found Drowned in Rainwater in Madipakkam | Chennai News

CHENNAI: Police in Madipakkam have now identified the body of a man discovered in rainwater last week as that of an EB wireman. The deceased has been named as Prasanna, a 43-year-old resident of Karthikeyapuram near Madipakkam. Authorities suspect that he drowned in the stagnant rainwater.

Last Tuesday, after corporation workers pumped out the water from the road, they found Prasanna’s body and immediately informed the police control room. His remains were then sent to the government hospital for an autopsy.

Preliminary reports from the doctors who conducted the autopsy have confirmed that Prasanna died due to drowning. They discovered that his lungs were filled with rainwater. Prasanna’s family had previously filed a missing person complaint, and a relative was able to identify the deceased as Prasanna.

According to the police, out of the 24 people who lost their lives in rain-related accidents during cyclone Michaung, six bodies still remain unidentified.

The discovery of Prasanna’s body has shed light on the dangers of stagnant rainwater during heavy downpours. It serves as a reminder for residents to take necessary precautions and avoid areas with excessive water accumulation.

Cyclone Michaung has wreaked havoc across the region, causing significant damage and loss of life. The authorities are working diligently to identify all the victims and provide closure to their families.
