We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Lavina Fielding Anderson. Lavina made significant contributions to the field of Mormon history and literature throughout her career. She served as the co-editor of the book “SISTERS IN SPIRIT” and held the esteemed position of editor for the Journal of Mormon History from 1991 to 2009. Following this, she continued her valuable work as a copy editor for the journal from 2009 to 2016, as well as for Dialogue: A Journal of Mormon Thought from 2004 to 2011.
Lavina’s dedication and expertise in her roles as an editor and copy editor have left an indelible mark on the Mormon historical community. Her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to preserving the integrity of scholarly works have been greatly appreciated by both authors and readers alike.

At this time, the cause of Lavina’s passing remains unknown. Our thoughts and condolences go out to her family, friends, and colleagues during this difficult time. Lavina’s contributions to the field of Mormon history will be remembered and cherished for years to come.
