STUART, Fla. — A 92-year-old man from Florida has been charged with manslaughter following a violent altercation with a fellow resident at an assisted living center, resulting in the victim’s death. Wallace Arthur Server, a resident of Stuart, was initially arrested on November 16 at 10:20 a.m. EST and charged with aggravated battery on an elderly person. However, the charge was later upgraded to manslaughter after the 87-year-old victim passed away a few hours after Server’s arrest.

Both Server and the victim were residents at the Inspiritas of Stuart Memory Care facility, a renowned assisted living center in the area. The alleged attack occurred on November 5, according to local reports. Stuart Police responded to the incident at 9:21 p.m. EST after receiving reports of a resident being assaulted within the facility.

During their investigation, detectives discovered that the victim had been attacked by another resident, with Server being identified as the suspect. The victim suffered severe blunt-force trauma injuries and was rushed to HCA Hospital in nearby Fort Pierce for treatment. Unfortunately, despite the medical efforts, the victim’s condition deteriorated, and he was moved to hospice care on November 14. He passed away two days later at 2:25 p.m. EST, as confirmed by an autopsy, which determined the cause of death as homicide resulting from multiple blunt-force trauma.

Server is currently detained without bond at the Martin County Jail, as stated in the arrest warrant. The case has raised concerns about security and the well-being of residents in assisted living facilities, prompting authorities to further examine safety protocols and implement appropriate measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
