34-Year-Old Joginder Singh Brutally Stabbed to Death in Mohali: Shockwaves in Balongi Village

In a distressing incident that has sent shockwaves through the Balongi village community in Mohali district, a 34-year-old man was brutally stabbed to death in his PG accommodation. The victim, identified as Joginder Singh, suffered fatal injuries after being attacked multiple times with a knife. The assailant, identified as Paras, fled the scene and sought refuge in a nearby dirty drain, as captured by surveillance cameras.

Upon witnessing the crime, passersby immediately alerted the police control room after discovering Joginder’s lifeless body. Known as Joginder Singh alias Banti, the deceased was associated with a fast-food shop called “Mr. Grill” in Balongi, where Paras also resided in Room No. 34.

The accused, Paras, originally from Una, Himachal Pradesh, is now facing murder charges based on statements provided by Joginder’s brother, Mohit. Paras was subsequently arrested by the police in Kasauli, Himachal Pradesh and presented in court, where he was remanded in custody for four days.

Joginder’s family disclosed that he was married and had a five-year-old daughter who resides with his wife in Delhi. Merely three months ago, Joginder had opened his fast-food shop in Balongi, but had been grappling with financial difficulties. His brother Mohit had been urging him to address his debts.

On December 7, around 3:30 PM, after having lunch, Joginder went to PGI to collect an induction and charger for his mobile phone, with plans to reopen his shop afterward. A heated argument broke out between Joginder and Paras in Joginder’s room, which tragically escalated into a fatal attack. Paras mercilessly assaulted Joginder with a knife, striking him under the thigh and slashing his neck four to five times.

CCTV cameras captured the gruesome incident, revealing Joginder being dragged to a dirty drain beneath Paras’ rented room, where he was discarded. Paras was later observed leaving the premises on Joginder’s motorcycle, heading towards Chandigarh, and eventually boarding a bus to Himachal Pradesh. The police apprehended Paras upon his return to Mohali.

The entire community mourns the loss of Joginder Singh and hopes for justice to be served as the investigation progresses.
