Two Philadelphia Police Officers Wounded in Shooting, Suspect Also Injured

Early Sunday morning, a shooting incident in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia resulted in two police officers being hospitalized. The suspect was also shot in the altercation.

The incident took place around 3:00 am when officers responded to a disturbance call on the 3200 block of Levick Street. As they arrived at the scene, they encountered an armed suspect, later identified as 34-year-old John Smith, who opened fire on them.

In the exchange of gunfire, two officers were struck. The injured officers were identified as Officer Mark Johnson, a 12-year veteran of the force, and Officer Sarah Thompson, who has been serving for 5 years. Both officers were rushed to the nearby Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Their conditions were reported as stable, and they are expected to recover.
