Government Official Found Dead Hanging from Bridge in Samut Songkhram
The body of a 43-year-old government official was discovered hanging from a bridge over the Mae Klong River in Samut Songkhram province early this morning. The deceased, identified as Sapatporn, worked for the Department of Agriculture and Cooperatives in Samut Songkhram. Her body was found by a group of shrimp fishers who immediately alerted the authorities.

The incident occurred near Wat Phuang Malai in Mae Klong district. Sapatporn was found hanging by the neck at the side of the bridge. Approximately 500 meters away, her car was found parked. The car was registered in Bangkok and belonged to the deceased, according to KhaoSod, a local news outlet.
The discovery was made by Sub Lieutenant Prateep, who was among a group of shrimp fishers gathered along the riverbanks. They heard a loud sound coming from the bridge and upon shining a light upwards, they saw Sapatporn’s body dangling and swinging.
Sub Lt. Prateep immediately rushed to the bridge on his motorcycle to offer help, but unfortunately, it was too late. Initial investigations revealed that Sapatporn had been suffering from thyroid disease and depression. She had disappeared from her home before the incident, causing her family to search for her. They found her car parked near the bridge before discovering her lifeless body.
Authorities suspect that Sapatporn took her own life due to her chronic illness and depression. Ongoing investigations aim to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
