Muar accident victim : 37-year-old woman killed in motorcycle collision with lorry on Jalan Bukit Mor, Parit Jawa

A tragic accident in Muar has claimed the life of a 37-year-old woman and left her younger brother seriously injured. The incident occurred on Sunday (Dec 10) at around 12.20pm on Jalan Bukit Mor, Parit Jawa. The victims were traveling on a motorcycle towards Parit Jawa from Ayer Manis when they collided with a lorry.

According to Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz, the lorry, which was carrying oil palm fruit, was being driven by a 31-year-old man from the opposite direction. The rider, identified as Norlyana Sharif, lost control of the motorcycle and crashed into the oncoming lorry.

Tragically, Norlyana suffered a fatal head injury, while her brother, Mohd Khairul Amri Sharif, 27, broke both legs and injured both arms. A medical team pronounced Norlyana dead at the scene, while her brother was rushed to Hospital Muar for treatment.

The authorities have launched an investigation into the incident under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act, which deals with causing death by reckless or dangerous driving. The case will examine the circumstances surrounding the collision and determine any culpability on behalf of the lorry driver.

In response to the accident, the Muar Fire and Rescue Department dispatched nine firemen to the scene to assist with the rescue operation.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of road safety and the need for motorists to remain vigilant at all times. Authorities will continue to work towards ensuring the safety of road users and taking appropriate action against those found responsible for reckless driving.
