WAYNE COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) – A woman from Monticello has been arrested by Wayne County Sheriff Tim Catron after allegedly stealing packages from two homes on South Kentucky Highway 1275.

The incidents took place on Friday when residents reported their packages missing. According to officials, Misty Calhoun was captured on camera taking the packages and leaving in a car.

The car, which was later discovered at a residence on Eastland Drive, led deputies to Calhoun. She was found sitting in the backseat of the vehicle when law enforcement arrived.

During questioning, one officer noticed that Calhoun’s shoes still had their price tags on them, which were identified as one of the stolen items.

Calhoun admitted to selling one of the stolen items and provided information about the whereabouts of the other missing packages.

As a result, Calhoun was transported to the Wayne County Detention Center and charged with two counts of theft.

This incident serves as a reminder for residents to remain vigilant and take precautions to protect their belongings, especially during the holiday season when package thefts tend to increase.

Sheriff Catron urges individuals to consider installing security cameras and using lockboxes for package deliveries to prevent such incidents.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office will continue to investigate this case and work towards ensuring the safety and security of the community.
