EDDYVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An inmate at the Kentucky State Penitentiary in Eddyville has died, prompting an investigation by the Kentucky State Police. The deceased has been identified as Ivan Orantes-Pierce, a 31-year-old resident of Louisville.
According to KSP, they received a distress call from the penitentiary at approximately 5:11 p.m. ET on Friday. The prison staff informed them that they were performing CPR on Orantes-Pierce. In response, Lyon County EMS was dispatched to the scene. They subsequently requested the presence of a coroner at around 5:31 ET. State troopers also arrived to initiate a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the inmate’s death.
