Endgame, the controversial book by Omid Scobie, has been re-released in the Netherlands with significant changes to the text. The new edition comes after thousands of copies were pulled from the shelves due to the identification of two royals who allegedly made inquiries about the skin color of Archie, Meghan and Harry’s son. These references have now been removed, and the phrasing used to describe the royals has been made more respectful. The book also features new sources and changes in language, such as referring to Camilla as “Queen Consort” instead of “Queen” and no longer calling Kate by her full name, Catherine.
One of the most significant changes involves the portrayal of Prince William, who is depicted as power-hungry and in a conflict with the King. The accusatory tone towards William has been toned down in this new edition. Rick Evers, the Dutch journalist who first reported on the identification of the royals, claims that strict British laws prevented the book from naming them directly. However, the phrasing used to describe them has been altered to be more respectful.

The publication of Endgame had already caused controversy before its release, with numerous claims against the royals being made in the press. The Dutch version of the book revealed the names of the royals involved, leading to legal action being considered by the King. The Palace has not officially responded to the book, and the royals have remained silent on the matter in their public appearances.
Omid Scobie has stated that the identities of the royals were revealed in a letter from Meghan to the King regarding the allegations of racism. However, the letter remains locked away, leading the Palace to believe that it was not leaked by them. Scobie has also been at odds with the Dutch publisher, claiming that they were provided with an early manuscript that was never updated with the final version. The publisher, Xander Uitgevers, has categorically denied these claims and stated that Scobie’s representation of the events is incorrect.
