A 22-year-old Arabic student, identified as Alfa Musa, has tragically taken his own life in Ilorin, Kwara State. Musa, who was studying at Sheikh Kamaldeen Arabic school, was found hanging in his room at Dagbenu compound in Ogidi area on December 7, 2023.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ejire Adetoun Adeyemi, has confirmed that an investigation into the incident has been initiated. The police spokesperson revealed that the young student left behind a suicide note, in which he expressed his disappointment with God for not answering his prayers. The note also contained apologies to his parents and a request to be buried at home.

On the day of the incident, one of Musa’s friends visited his residence but discovered that his room was locked. Despite repeated attempts to get a response, there was no answer. Concerned, the friend forced open the door and tragically found Musa hanging. An empty paint container, believed to have been used in his suicide, was also discovered in the room.
Musa’s neighbors described him as a comfortable and devout Muslim, originally from Osun State. However, the deceased’s father insisted that his son be buried in Ilorin, contrary to Musa’s wish stated in the suicide note.
