The death toll from a wall collapse during a pre-wedding function in Ghosi, Uttar Pradesh, has risen to seven, with three more people succumbing to their injuries, according to a senior official. Currently, 21 individuals are receiving treatment in various hospitals.

The incident occurred on Friday when a wall suddenly collapsed, tragically claiming the lives of three women and a child. The victims were crushed under the debris.

In response to the tragedy, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced financial support for the affected families. Each deceased person’s kin will receive an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh, and Rs 50,000 will be provided to all the injured. Furthermore, the Chief Minister has directed officials to ensure that all medical facilities are provided free of cost to those injured in the incident.

District Magistrate Arun Kumar explained that the wall collapse happened during a pre-wedding function. The adjacent wall unexpectedly gave way, leading to the unfortunate loss of lives. Five women and two children have died as a result, while 21 others are currently undergoing medical treatment.

The victims have been identified as Poonam Sharma (42), Meera (36), Pooja (35), Chanda Devi (30), Sushila (52), Anviya (4), and Madhav (8).

Authorities are investigating the incident to determine the cause of the wall collapse. It is crucial to ascertain whether there were any structural flaws or negligence that contributed to this tragic accident. Efforts will be made to prevent such incidents from occurring in the future, ensuring the safety of individuals attending public events.
