By | December 9, 2023

A homeowner in Norwalk, California, bravely fought back against an intruder who broke into his home in the early hours of Thursday morning. Kevin Perez and his wife were sound asleep when their barking dogs suddenly woke them up. Perez initially couldn’t see anything out of the ordinary, but then noticed movement in his office. To his horror, he saw an intruder standing in the dark.

Terrified, Perez yelled at the intruder to leave, but the suspect pushed the door closed and tried to escape through the window he had climbed in. Determined to protect his family, Perez chased after the intruder and managed to grab his leg before he could get away. However, the suspect eventually wriggled free and fled the scene.

Fearing for his loved ones’ safety, Perez grabbed a hammer and pursued the intruder down the street. After the suspect tripped, Perez restrained him and warned him not to move while he called the police. Perez’s quick thinking and bravery led to the arrest of the suspect, identified as Armando Torres, 32.

Authorities believe Torres is homeless, and he has been detained on suspicion of burglary with a $50,000 bail. Despite the intense situation, no one was injured, and Torres did not manage to steal any personal belongings.

Reflecting on the incident, Perez advised others to have a plan in place if they ever encounter an intruder in their homes. He believes that having a plan and sticking to it is crucial in such situations.

Torres is scheduled to appear in court on December 11. Perez’s story serves as a reminder of the importance of being prepared and taking action to protect oneself and loved ones during unexpected and dangerous situations.
